What kinds of setting are in W10
Day nurseries: 8. School nursery classes: 7. Pre-schools: 3. Independent schools with early years places: 3. Maintained nursery schools: 1. Settings with Montessori in the name: 1. Because the area mixes school-based and standalone settings, the type tells you a lot about hours and the age children start.
On a visit, ask about outdoor space, how staff greet children at drop-off, and how the nursery keeps in touch with families through the day. These small things show a lot more than a brochure does. Our questions to ask a nursery guide lists what to cover.
Reading inspection results
Settings with a new Ofsted report card: 2. Previous grades: Outstanding 1 and Good 7. Settings recorded as schools, reported through a school inspection: 11. No inspection result in the data: 1.
School nursery classes and nursery schools are inspected as schools, so look for the school's report rather than a nursery one. See how to check a nursery, and the Kensington and Chelsea highest-rated list.
If a nursery has no report yet, ask when it was last inspected and by whom, and look at the school's report where the nursery is part of a school.
Our Ofsted report card areas guide explains how to compare the six areas when a setting has one.
