Cookies on LondonEY

LondonEY sets no tracking or advertising cookies. Here is what runs on the site, what is essential, and what only loads when you choose.

Updated

The short version

  • LondonEY does not set tracking, advertising or analytics cookies.
  • We do not use Google Analytics.
  • We have no cookie banner because we have nothing that needs your consent on first load.
  • Two kinds of third-party content can involve cookies or similar technology. One is essential and protects our forms. The other, the Google map, loads only after you click.

What we use

What What it does Cookies or similar storage When it runs
Our own pages and search Shows pages. Search runs in your browser using an index we publish. None set by us. Always
Cloudflare Web Analytics Counts page views and referrers in aggregate so we can see which pages are used. None. Cloudflare says the service does not use cookies or local storage and does not track individuals across sites. On every page, if switched on
Cloudflare Turnstile Checks that a form is being filled in by a person, not a bot. Cloudflare may use browser storage or cookies strictly to do this. This is essential to protect the forms. Only on pages with a form
Map tiles (MapTiler) Draws the map on area pages. We set no cookies ourselves. Tiles load from MapTiler only when a map is shown, and your IP address and the map area you view are sent to them to deliver the tiles. See our privacy notice. When a map scrolls into view
Google Maps embed Shows a single setting on a Google map. Google may set cookies and receives your IP address, under Google’s privacy policy. Only after you click “Load map”. Nothing from Google loads before that.
Stripe Checkout Lets sponsors pay and manage a subscription. Stripe may set its own cookies on its own pages. Only if you follow a sponsor payment link

Strictly necessary storage

Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), storage that is strictly necessary to provide a service you have asked for does not need your consent. We treat Cloudflare Turnstile as falling under this exemption because without it we could not safely offer forms.

If a feature on the site ever stores a preference on your device (for example, how you last sorted a table), it stays on your device, is not sent to us, and is not used to identify you.

The map on a setting’s page is behind a button. Until you click it, your browser makes no connection to Google. When you click, we load Google’s map, and Google can then set cookies and collect data under its own policy. If you would rather not, do not click. You can use the postcode and address shown on the page in any map app you prefer.

Managing cookies

You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. The ICO explains how at ico.org.uk. Blocking Google’s cookies will not stop you using LondonEY.

Changes

If we ever add anything that sets non-essential cookies, such as analytics that identify visitors, we will add a consent banner first and update this page. The date at the top shows when this page last changed.
