How this is worked out
  • Funded hours are valued at your nursery’s own hourly rate (weekly fee ÷ hours) for 38 weeks a year. Nurseries can charge for meals, nappies and optional extras on top; these are not included.
  • Tax-Free Childcare: for every £8 you pay into your account, the government adds £2, up to £2,000 per child per year (£4,000 if your child is disabled). Here it is worked out as 20% of what you pay after funded hours, capped at £2,000.
